On Friday, December 28, 2018 members of the Northville Township Police Department partnered with Strategies to Overcome Obstacles and Avoid Recidivism (SOOAR) to conduct compliance checks for underage tobacco sales at retailers in Northville
Township.

We are pleased to announce that 100% of the retailers were in compliance. Each retailer requested identification from the decoys and none of the retailers sold the age restricted tobacco products.

The underage decoys, coordinated through SOOAR, attempted to purchase age restricted tobacco products at all 12 retailers in Northville Township.

The Police Department would like to thank our partner SOOAR for participating in this important compliance check operation. We also want to recognize the retailers located
in Northville Township for their commitment to the community and their compliance with the state laws prohibiting underage tobacco sales.

The Northville Township Police Department will continue to enforce the law when violations have been identified where businesses sell alcohol or tobacco products to minors.

The Northville Township Police Department is committed to community safety. In addition to compliance checks for underage tobacco sales, the agency also conducts
compliance checks for registered sex offenders and parolees residing in the township as well as underage alcohol sales.
